The Great Lakes Bush Viper inhabits the mountainous forests surrounding the African Great Lakes, including regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, and western Kenya and Tanzania. It is one of the larger and more colorful members of the genus Atheris.
