The Mount Bulgar Viper is endemic to the Bolkar (Bulgar Dagh) mountain range in southern Turkey, occupying rocky alpine and subalpine habitats. It is one of several closely related Montivipera species that have diversified across isolated mountain ranges of Anatolia and the Caucasus.
Its small, fragmented range makes it vulnerable to habitat disturbance, and it is considered a species of conservation concern.
